The tightlock and AAR couplers, which are mainly used in North America and Asia, are characterized by their simple and robust design, high strength and low price. They can be used both on passenger trains and freight wagons.
Retractable electrical coupling for tightlock and AAR couplers
The design of Tightlock and AAR type couplers implies an increased coupler play. The coupler movements lead to a risk of arcing which usually prohibited the use of electric heads.
A retractable and spring-loaded carrier system for electric and pneumatic connections ensures a safe and reliable connec-tion of the electric heads at a constant contact pressure regardless of the coupler play. |
